Before you apply

Pre-requisites for TECOM Freezone Visa Services.

Whether you need a TECOM New Visa, a TECOM Visa Renewal or a TECOM Visa Cancellation, the same file is checked first. These six conditions are confirmed before anything reaches the authority.

Prerequisite 01

Company & TECOM file

Every TECOM visa — new, renewal or cancellation — is filed against the establishment record on the TECOM portal. The company side is checked before the applicant’s.

Verified first
  • Valid TECOM trade licence, not expired or in a lapsed grace period
  • Establishment card current, with the immigration file open
  • TECOM portal access active for the company
  • Visa allocation available under your TECOM package
  • No outstanding dues to the TECOM authority
  • Signatory authorised on the portal to submit applications
Where files stall: A TECOM licence in a lapsed grace period blocks every visa route on the portal. Licence first, then visa — we check both expiry dates together.
Prerequisite 02

New Visa pre-requisites

A new TECOM visa runs from consultation through to stamping. These are confirmed before the application reaches the authority.

Before the application
  • Passport copies, valid at least six months
  • Photographs meeting UAE specifications, white background
  • Educational certificates, attested where the designation requires it
  • Offer letter prepared and signed
  • Applicant location — inside or outside the UAE changes the route
  • Change status at 1,600.00 AED, where the applicant is already in the country
Where files stall: Attested educational certificates are the longest lead item on a new TECOM file. Start them before anything else, because two stages of attestation happen abroad.
Prerequisite 03

Visa Renewal pre-requisites

A renewal is where the file is re-examined. Anything that has changed since the original visa surfaces here.

Before the renewal
  • Visa expiry date checked, and the renewal begun ahead of it
  • Emirates ID expiry checked separately — the dates often differ
  • TECOM licence expiry checked alongside the visa
  • Documents reviewed and updated — current versions, not the originals
  • Medical fitness test where the previous one has expired
  • Health insurance renewed and active for the new term
Where files stall: Three expiry dates run in parallel on a TECOM file — visa, Emirates ID and trade licence. Renewing one and missing another still leaves the holder out of status.
Prerequisite 04

Visa Cancellation pre-requisites

A cancellation is simple to file and easy to get wrong. Settle these before anything is submitted.

Before cancelling
  • Passport copies and the cancellation request form prepared
  • Original passport available for the immigration submission
  • Emirates ID returned by the holder
  • Outstanding fines settled, including any overstay
  • Exit permit arranged where the holder is leaving the UAE
  • Dependants cancelled or transferred alongside the sponsor
Where files stall: Collect the passport and Emirates ID before anyone books a flight. Cancellations stall most often because the documents have already left the country.
Prerequisite 05

Medical & Emirates ID

Both a new visa and a renewal run through a medical and an Emirates ID application. Booking them together saves days.

In sequence
  • Medical fitness test at an approved centre
  • Normal at 320.00 AED, or VIP at 750.00 AED where the timeline is tight
  • Emirates ID at 385.00 AED
  • Biometrics captured at a registration centre
  • Medical report required before stamping can proceed
  • Appointments scheduled together so the applicant makes one trip
Where files stall: The VIP medical exists for a reason. Where a start date is already promised, the difference buys back several days on the critical path.
Prerequisite 06

Costs & timeline

TECOM charges an authority fee on top of the immigration charges, which is what makes a free zone visa cost more than a mainland one.

What to plan for
  • New visa: around AED 8,500.00 to 10,530.00 in total
  • Renewal: around AED 5,500.00 to 5,930.00 in total
  • Cancellation: around AED 470.00 in total
  • TECOM visa fee at 5,050.00 AED is the largest single item on a new file
  • Change status at 1,600.00 AED applies only if the applicant is in the country
  • Transparent pricing — all charges communicated upfront, no hidden costs
Where files stall: The TECOM authority fee is charged separately from the immigration fees, which is why a free zone visa costs more than a mainland one. We show both lines separately so you can see where the money goes.

FAQs

TECOM Freezone Visa Services, answered.

What does a TECOM New Visa cost?

Around AED 8,500.00 to 10,530.00 in total: TECOM visa fee 5,050.00 approx, visa application fee 1,500.00, entry permit 1,245.00, change status 1,600.00 where applicable, and medical 320.00 normal or 750.00 VIP. Emirates ID is 385.00 AED.

What does a TECOM Visa Renewal cost?

Around AED 5,500.00 to 5,930.00: TECOM visa renewal fee 2,750.00 approx, renewal application fee 2,045.00, medical 320.00 normal or 750.00 VIP, and Emirates ID 385.00.

What does a TECOM Visa Cancellation cost?

Approximately AED 470.00 for the TECOM visa cancellation, covering the full process with the authority.

How many steps are in the new visa process?

Eight: initial consultation, document preparation, application submission to the TECOM Authority, entry permit issuance, medical examination, Emirates ID application, visa stamping, and final collection of the stamped passport and Emirates ID.

When is the change status fee charged?

The 1,600.00 AED change status fee applies only where the applicant is already inside the UAE on another visa. Applicants entering on the TECOM entry permit from abroad do not pay it.

Is a medical test always required for renewal?

Undergo a medical fitness test if required — whether a new test is needed depends on when the previous one was taken. We confirm the position before filing.

What is the difference between the normal and VIP medical?

Normal is 320.00 AED and VIP is 750.00 AED. The VIP option fast-tracks the result, which matters when a start date has already been promised.

Do you handle other free zones as well as TECOM?

Yes. We file across IFZA, Meydan, DMCC, DSO, DIFC, DAFZA, JAFZA, TECOM, DHCA and DWTC, plus mainland visas in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.
